Android keyboard ยท Closed beta

Cheat codes
for games
with no keyboard.

San Andreas, Vice City, Doom and PC games in Winlator all read cheats from a keyboard, but none of them will open one on your phone. CheatKeys is a keyboard you can pull up over any game. It types the code one key at a time.

Pro: tap a cheat and it's typed one key at a time, at the same speed the app uses.

01 โ€” How it works

Four steps.
Zero menus mid-game.

  1. 1

    Turn it on once

Enable CheatKeys in Android's keyboard settings. Keep Gboard, SwiftKey or whatever you use as your everyday keyboard.

  2. 2

    Pull down the shade

Games never open a keyboard, so CheatKeys sits in your notifications. Tap it mid-game and the keyboard slides up over the game.

  3. 3

    Send the cheat

Type the code, or in Pro tap it once. Each key is held for 40 ms with a 60 ms gap, slow enough that games don't drop letters.

  4. 4

    Back to normal

Hit ๐ŸŒ and you're on your regular keyboard again. CheatKeys stays out of the way until the next time.

Why a keyboard, and not a floating button?

Android doesn't let ordinary apps press keys inside another app. The only thing allowed to is the keyboard you've selected. So rather than a floating overlay or a root hack, CheatKeys is a real keyboard. Games take its key presses exactly as if you had a physical keyboard plugged in.

04 โ€” FAQ

Questions

Do I need root or Shizuku?+

No. CheatKeys is an ordinary Android keyboard. Android lets whichever keyboard you've selected send key presses to the app in front, so there's nothing to unlock, no ADB and no root.

How do I open it while a game is running?+

Games never show a text box, so a keyboard can't pop up by itself. CheatKeys keeps a notification in your shade: swipe down, tap it, and the keyboard opens over the game. If another keyboard is active, the same tap lets you switch to CheatKeys.

Why does it type the code one letter at a time?+

Games read individual key presses, not pasted text, and some miss keys that arrive too fast. CheatKeys holds each key for 40 ms and waits 60 ms before the next one. A 7-letter code like HESOYAM takes under a second.

Do I have to give up Gboard?+

No. Keep Gboard, SwiftKey or Samsung Keyboard for everything else. Tap the ๐ŸŒ key in CheatKeys and you're straight back on it.

Which games does it work with?+

Cheats are built in for GTA San Andreas, Vice City and III, Doom and Doom II, Heretic, Hexen, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake, StarCraft, Warcraft III and Age of Empires I and II. That includes PC versions running in Winlator, Mobox or DOSBox. For anything else, type the code on the QWERTY keys.

What does Pro add?+

One-tap keys for every built-in cheat, automatic switching to the tab for the game you're playing, your own custom codes, and no ads at all. Free has the full QWERTY keyboard and the cheat browser, with one banner ad on its home screen.

Will I ever see an ad during a game?+

No. Neither edition shows ads in the keyboard or over other apps. The only ad is a banner on the Free app's own home screen.

How do I join the closed beta?+
